Session Details
What happens if you have a project dispute? What happens when you haven't been paid? What happens when a Notice of Adjudication lands on your desk?
This session offers a detailed examination of Prompt Payment (Part I.1) and Adjudication (Part II.1) within the Saskatchewan Builders’ Lien Act.
Prompt Payment, now mandated in Saskatchewan, establishes a structured timeline for contractual parties involved in construction projects to promptly compensate their supply chain, ensuring timely payment for services rendered.
Adjudication serves as an Alternate Dispute Resolution (ADR) mechanism resulting from the Prompt Payment legislation embedded in the Builders’ Lien Act. This legislation empowers Adjudication to address various construction disputes beyond issues concerning Proper Invoices, late payment, or non-payment scenarios.
Similar to Arbitration or Mediation, Adjudication functions as a swift and direct means of resolving disputes within construction projects. It offers a expedited process for managing and resolving disputes during project execution, minimizing overall costs for involved parties. Adjudication, tailored for construction disputes, engages adjudicators possessing over 10 years of experience in the construction industry.
